A Step by Step
Guide to Finding A Profitable Niche Market- Step

Why is some
competition a good thing?, as they say the secret to
being successful at niche marketing as well as any other
business venture is to find something that works and not
to try and re-invent the wheel.
Think of it this way, if the
market is so small and with no competition chances are the
niche is not profitable, that's not to say that it won't become
so, however we want to make the quickest return on our time and
effort so a completely competition free market is one which
should probably be avoided to begin with.
If you find a niche market with
sponsored adverts you will know that this sector will return a
profit, having found such a niche which looks good on first
inspection I like to do a little research to determine how long
the competition has been in the niche, I.e. how long have the
sponsored advertisers been in your niche.
There are tools available to
purchase which will help you carry out this and other niche
market research one of which is 'Traffictravis', Which is
available to use free, If you like the service you can always
upgrade to the paid version later on. It is perfectly feasible
to completely avoid using paid tools although your research may
take slightly longer, so for this example I will assume that
you have more time to invest than money.
Another great free tool you can
use to research your keywords is 'WordTracker's Free Keyword
tool'. Wordtracker pulls data from a number of smaller search
engines, but their figures tend to be reasonably accurate. When
researching keywords you should generally be looking for
keywords with a count of over 30.
Now you have your list of niche
related keywords you need to do a little competition research
to see how profitable they are, enter your keyword list into
Traffic Travis to see how many people are bidding on those
keywords in the PPC market. I'm not advocating that you get
straight into PPC advertising, we do this just to determine
whether people are willing to pay money to have an ad appear
for those keywords, and if they are the keywords themselves
must be profitable! So there you have it, I recommend you check
traffic travis over a week or so just to see if the same
websites are constantly bidding for the same keywords.
You see, if indeed the same web
sites are repeatedly bidding for the same keywords you can be
sure this is a profitable area to be in.
Another check you can carry out,
is a way back when search, go to www.alexa.com enter the
relevant URL details into the box and hit search, now just hit
the 'Way back when button', this will tell you not only how
long the site has been around but it also lets you look at how
the site has been updated throughout its life.
So now you have a niche market in
your sights the hard work begins, for help with web design,
graphics, and marketing take a look at the free guides
