Effective..Take a Look.
People always want what others also want or what others
have. Think of it this way, you visit a site for a product your
in the market for, hey the sales page is good and you like the
product, but do you buy it now or do you look around a bit
more?.
OK, so lets assume you carry on looking having bookmarked
the first site you visited. The next site you stumble onto has
almost the same product and the sales copy is equally good,
however this time you notice that the site owner has put up
details of how many people have downloaded his product today,
you also notice that downloads of this product are limited at
this discounted price (which still happens to be around the
same price as the first site you visited).
Next to the buy it now button, the site owner has inserted a
little bit of JavaScript in the guise of a limited download
countdown and there are only 6 downloads left at this
price.
Which product do you think your going to buy?, well almost
all of us will go for the second site's offerings, purely
because we perceive this product to be of more value because
the site owner has told us how many products have already been
downloaded today, this might be say for example 10, so we think
people are keen to buy this product as opposed to the other, so
they can't all be wrong can they, they must know something you
don't.
Plus we also feel pressured into making a quick decision, if
we want the product and if people are queing up to buy it we
need to act fast or they may all be gone, after all if there's
only 6 left and there has already been 10 downloads today, do
we want to take the chance of not being able to secure our own
copy, is it worth the risk of leaving this site without making
the purchase?.
Basically you need to find ways to imply that others want
what you are selling too and better still you need to help your
potential customer make up their mind NOW.
OK, this might sound obvious, but are you really following
this advice in your landing pages & websites? Why not try
split testing a few options to best test conversion rates.
You only need to be subtle about it to make use of this tip,
for example you could add a simple line to your site that
says:
"So far 898 people have downloaded and successfully used
this methods to help xyz and abc"
And/Or
"If you have trouble loading the xyz website, please
refresh, as it is hugely popular right now and sometimes this
causes their page to load slower than it should."
And/Or
Your could simply place a couple of quotes from testimonials
from satisfied customers.
All of the above examples help plant the seed in the readers
mind that other people want what is offered on the site that
you are promoting.
Mark this down as a must use tip in any of your niche
marketing & affiliate promotions or landing pages.
