What is Niche Marketing

By Mark Bishop
A niche market is a simple term used to
describe a small section of a larger market, for example a
niche marketing website will target a smaller, more focused
subset of a market sector, take internet marketing, if you were
to put the term 'Internet marketing' or 'web marketing' into
google you'll probably end up with around seventy million
results, which lets face it is quite a hard market to crack,
however if you were to enter the search term 'Article
submission software' you'll see that the results total around
the 1.6 million figure.
I know 1.6 million is still one hell of a
market, but this article is just to offer you a simple
understanding of what a niche market actually is. I would say
at this point that the web marketing niche is definitely not
the best place to start your niche marketing career, unless of
course you have a shed load of spare cash and too much time on
your hands, the competition really to stiff.
The premise to profitable niche marketing, is
relatively simple: find a market your either interested in or a
market which you think will be profitable and start dissecting
it up into smaller segments.
Having found your profitable niche market all
you have to do now is knock up a web page with a couple of
affiliate products that fit the bill, upload your little site
and wait for the stampede of hungry buyers, ...oh yes..as good
as money in the bank.
Well maybe that was true some time ago, but
sadly those days are long gone, & unfortunately internet
marketing of any description has quickly and sadly become a
JOB, that's, 'Just Over Broke' for most would be internet
marketers, which regrettably included myself for some annoying
period of time.
Now please don't get me wrong, web marketing is
still by far the best and quickest way for us everyday Joe's to
make a fortune, or just a very good living, do it right and you
can be set up for an easy life with no money worries, do it
wrong and all you'll have to show for your hard work will be a
large credit card bill and a few more frown lines, believe me
I've been there.
Establishing a niche market based on sound and
initially exhaustive research will give you your successful web
business, optimize & target your new niche market, If
you've got it right you'll find it easier to land the targeted
traffic you need.
So how do you find a profitable niche
market
An ideal niche market is one where there is an
interest from a small but sizeable group of individuals 'niche
market', this should ideally be a market niche where no one, or
very few are fulfilling the markets needs. So we can
serve them.
Profitable niche markets exist everywhere, from
perhaps a hobby, a passion, like cooking curries, or line
dancing, maybe lizard keeping or pet grooming you name it,
there are opportunities literally everywhere.
There is a knack to finding niche markets, but
it's a knack that can be learnt, you don't need to be some kind
of internet guru to succeed (hey..most of them are fake
anyway), you don't need to be any kind of internet geek either,
get rid of the hype and you'll find a viable business which
anyone can operate.
Yes at first it seems quite hard, quite
confusing and if your like me you'll start looking for the next
big thing, the next easy money (you know, the opportunity that
promises everything and delivers only bitter disappointment),
I've spent most of my adult life on that path, so believe me
there is no pot of gold and no ones going to hand you your
fortune on a plate.
Niche marketing could be your best chance of
building a profitable online future so dig your heels in deep
and start the learning curve, before someone else fills that
niche.
I hope you found this article useful, and hey
if you really are a successful internet guru, I offer you my
apologies and hats off to you, my reference was aimed purely at
the fake guru's who seem to be populating most of the web of
late, peddling there third rate garbage, (sorry for the
rant).
